There was a fantastic turnout for the East Knoyle Flower & Vegetable Show and Scarecrow Competition held at the village hall on Saturday 12 August. There were more than 70 entrants this year, showing off their skills in making home produce, in growing vegetables and lovely flowers. The children of the village also entered their exhibits in record numbers, with 18 taking part. For the second time, Caroline Cambell won best in show.
The standard of the scarecrows on show around East Knoyle was excellent, with 17 very amusing characters temporarily joining our village community, including one that someone was convinced had fallen off their bicycle outside Seymour Cottage and needed help. Helen and Alan Lever were the winners of the scarecrow competition, with their scarecrows Worzel Gummidge and Aunt Sally.
The village hall committee provided a delicious tea on the lawn giving members of the village, their friends and family time to catch up and enjoy the sunny afternoon.
