July in East Knoyle is important in the village as every year this is the month of the annual Flower & Vegetable Show.
The late Charlie Cumberlege was keen to establish this event and, after consultation with the Royal Horticultural Society, the first show was launched four years ago.
Run by a small village committee the Show incorporates, not only flowers and vegetables, but also photography and scarecrow competitions. Added to which there is a large home produce section for preserves, baked goods, bread etc., and classes for children from 3 - 15, so something for the whole family.
Held in the Village Hall, with teas on sale outside in the beautiful garden, it is becoming a keenly anticipated date in the diary, and the schedule of classes to enter is published and widely available in the months before the show.
